Farmsafe WA Alliance

The Alliance is designed to be a farmer friendly body to assist farmers in having access to the right information to ensure the workplace and surrounds are a safe environment for all as well as being a major provider of training in farm injury risk management in WA.

Funding is provided by Government Agencies and industry groups (for specific projects), corporate sponsorship and community membership and we cover a broad range of issues including general farm safety, child safety, hearing protection and sun protection and provide information and presentations Statewide when requested.

The Department of Agriculture have kindly donated office space and a small office is run from the Forrestfield Department and a lot of work is also done by voluntary committee members of which half are current or former farmers.

The objectives of the FARMSAFE WA ALLIANCE are in conjunction with the Western Australian Farming community -

(a) To provide focus and leadership in rural health and safety issues.
(b) To encourage and provide health and safety education and training.
(c) To develop networks and alliances that provide increased awareness and promotion of rural health and safety related issues and initiatives.
(d) To develop strategies, solutions and actions that contribute to improving rural work practices and lifestyles.

What did you say? Preventing Farmer Hearing Loss Project

Funding provided by the Australian Communication Exchange (ACE) through their Friends of Ace Support (FACES) funding program allowed Farmsafe WA Alliance to produce a number of brochures, posters, magnets and stickers to increase the awareness to farmers of noise injury and hearing loss. A number of awareness raising activities were undertaken at field days last year and more are planned for this year. If you would like to receive a copy of the available resources please contact Farmsafe WA Alliance.
