Airservices supports next generation of pilots
Airservices has has announced a three-year sponsorship agreement with Recreational Aviation Australia (RA-Aus) to support education of the next generation of pilots.

Airservices will fund ten RA-Aus scholarships per year to assist with flight training of young recreational aviation devotees.

Airservices spokesperson Rob Walker said the agreement recognised the essential role played by RA-Aus as part of a vibrant, growing Australian aviation industry.

"We're proud to support the work of the organisation as they help young people learn to fly, operate safely and possibly consider a future career in our industry," Mr Walker said.

"This agreement is part of our wider contribution to the aviation industry in general and we look forward to building on this association with RA-Aus."

Airservices and RA-Aus GYFTS (Giving Young Flyers Training Support) scholarships will offer training opportunities for young people and assist them to complete their flying training at minimal cost.

The Airservices sponsorship will allow RA-Aus to provide each successful student with $2,500 to subsidise the cost of flight training lessons with an instructor.

The scholarships offer a chance to develop basic aviation knowledge which could lead to a later career in recreational, military or general commercial aviation.

"We hope these scholarships will encourage young flyers to become active, long-term members of the recreational aviation community and beyond," Mr Walker said.

The scholarships are available to both male and female students who are 15-20 years old. Applicants must demonstrate an aptitude for flying, a commitment to aviation, and financial need.
