Western Australian Lands Minister Brendon Grylls has announced the appointment of Ashburton pastoralist Leanne Corker as chair of the Pastoral Lands Board (PLB).
He also announced the appointment of Peter Johnston of Callagiddy Station near Carnarvon, as a new member of the board.
Mrs Corker has been the lessee of Red Hill Station in the Ashburton in partnership with her husband Digby since 1987.
Mr Grylls said Mrs Corker's background and experience would be invaluable in her new role on the board.
"She has an excellent understanding of pastoral management including rangeland condition, conservation values, biosecurity and impacts of land use," he said.
"She was the secretary of the Carnarvon School of the Air Association from 1998 to 2005 and has been a local government councillor of the Shire of Ashburton since 2003, including several years as president.
"She has also been an Ashburton Land Conservation District Committee member since 1998."
Mrs Corker takes over as chair of the PLB from Roger O'Dwyer who has moved interstate.
The Minister also welcomed Mr Johnston to the position of pastoral member.
He said Mr Johnston also had significant experience in pastoral management. He had run small and large stock and had diversified into growing sweetcorn and other produce using artesian water.
He was an avid promoter of the potential for diversified activities on pastoral stations and his experiences in this area would be a valuable addition to the board.
